About me
I love science! In college, I majored in Zoology and have a minor in Psychology. Originally, I had no idea how good of a fit teaching was to my personality, so I looked into other careers after graduating. I was a field researcher, monitoring nesting success of various bird species around the Great Salt Lake. I completed a biology internship with Kennecott Utah Copper, where I helped manage the Inland Sea Shorebird Reserve as well as specific areas on the Oquirrh Mountains. I also completed some genetics research where we studied the telomeres of Drosophila species (Fruit Fly). I finally had an epiphany that research, though interesting, did not suit me. It was then I discovered I needed to be a teacher. I went on to complete my teaching licensure classes and was hired at West Point Junior High. I have been there ever since. Currently, I teach 7th grade science and 9th grade honors biology. I also co-teach an elective class, NAL (National Academic League), which is a school team where we compete against other schools in academic subjects. In previous years, I also taught 8th grade science.
