Davis District R&R Conference 2025
Friday June 6, 2025 11:00am - 11:50am MDT
A sense of belonging plays an important role in a student's academic, behavioral, and psychological success in school, but sometimes it is hard to find the time to build a sense of belonging and teach all the required curriculum. Community Circles are a way to build belonging in the classroom. Investing 20-30 minutes a week in Community Circles can dramatically improve the sense belonging. They can be used to build rapport with students, discuss concepts from class, and process through events that may be difficult for students to deal with. It is a great tool for social and emotional learning. Community Circles help students to have a voice in the classroom. In this session you will learn the basics of how to facilitate Community Circles and how to use them to foster belonging in your classroom.
