Davis District R&R Conference 2025
Thursday June 5, 2025 1:00pm - 1:50pm MDT
Beginner level HTML: Ready to take your Canvas courses to the next level? In this interactive breakout session, participants will explore how to use basic HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) to create more visually appealing and organized Canvas course pages. Designed for educators with little to no prior experience in coding, this session will demystify what HTML is and how it functions as the building block of web content. You’ll learn how to incorporate simple HTML code to enhance text formatting, add interactive features, and structure your content in ways that make navigating your Canvas course more intuitive for students. We’ll walk through practical examples, from creating collapsible sections and stylized announcements to embedding external resources, all using beginner-friendly HTML techniques. By the end of this session, you'll leave with a set of copy-and-paste HTML templates and the confidence to customize your Canvas pages for greater student engagement. Whether you're a tech novice or just looking to add a little flair to your courses, this session will equip you with tools to make your Canvas courses better than ever!
