Secondary teachers: This session will explore the Science of Reading through the lens of the Reading Rope, highlight reading level concerns at national and local levels, and introduce evidence-based strategies that turn students into Word Nerds—engaged, confident readers with the tools needed to foster a love for language. Teachers will also review their Capti data and learn how to apply explicit, direct instruction to improve literacy outcomes. We’ll also share how these strategies are already transforming student reading growth in the district’s new Secondary Literacy classes.
